Dublin, Ireland 28 September 2016
We were absolutely thrilled to be presented with the Industry Innovator
award at the Travel Media Gala ceremony at The Westbury Hotel, Dublin, last
week. The awards, sponsored by Amadeus and Blue Insurance, have been running
for over four years now. Trish O'Leary of Amadeus, when presenting the
award, recognised the major 'pivot' made by Roomex in 2013 when it moved
into the corporate travel space. Also acknowledged was the speed of
technology development, disruption and 'the easier' way in which to book
hotels for business travel. Roomex has now become a key player in the UK and
Irish markets and continues to grow rapidly. Our CEO, Jack Donaghy, was
delighted with the award: "I would just like to pay huge tribute to every
single member of the Roomex Team, both in Ireland and The UK - they continue
to go against the grain, innovate and put their shoulders to the wheel every
single day, well done everyone!"
Another year over and we're delighted to say that 2015 has been our best year ever. We have grown our presence in the Irish and UK markets, created some wonderful new alliances with hotels, added new clients, team members and technology to make our service the best it has ever been.
One of the biggest benefits of using Roomex for Business is that we provide instant visibility on total hotel spend... and savings ! This allows senior management to analyse spend based on any cost centre they wish, typically by department or project.
Many of our customers travel regularly to the same locations and indeed to the same hotels and therefore will have entrusted Roomex to ensure that they get the best possible rate each time they visit. This raises the question as to whether Roomex should negotiate a fixed rate at a hotel for you?
Roomex recently exhibited at The Construction Industry Federation Annual Conference in the Aviva Stadium in October. As exhibitors we networked with key decision makers from all areas of the construction and engineering industries. Throughout the day a genuine feeling that a sustainable and robust recovery of Irish construction activity has begun pervaded the event.
An estimated 400 delegates attended this week’s National Manufacturing & Supply Chain Conference and Exhibition in the Aviva Stadium. The sold-out signs were posted on the event website in the lead-up to the conference and it was standing room only in a packed exhibition suite. The event was ably chaired by Sean Gallagher of Dragon’s Den fame who ensured a fast pace was maintained throughout.
Recent rises and falls in business sentiment have been reflected in the amount of business related travel being carried out by company executives. As the recession bit, and costs were cut, approval for business related travel was slashed across all industries but recent reports suggest this reactionary policy was a mistake. The US Travel Association’s 2013 “Travel Effect” report detailed statistical modelling carried out over 18 years and 14 industries which indicates that for every dollar spent on business travel, US companies have experienced a $9.50 return in terms of revenue.
Roomex is Ireland’s fastest growing corporate hotel booking agency. Its online Roomex for Business platform now manages hotel bookings for over 100 Irish Businesses and Organisations, including Dairygold, Kepak, Musgrave Group, Sisk Group, Topaz and many more.
